The Rhône-Alps-Auvergne Region has a very important cultural heritage. It also boasts 22 of the « Loveliest Villages of France », so-called the « Plus Beaux Villages de France », that you can visit during your stay. Moreover, there are lots of cities with the label « Pays d’Art et d’Histoire ».

In addition, there are numerous museums and monuments in the Rhône-Alps-Auvergne Region to explore, especially in Lyon with its Basilica Notre-Dame de Fourvière, its Roman Theatre of Fourvière and its recent National Museum of Confluences.
Crossing the Rhône river from Vienne, you will rediscover the Regional history with the archeological site of Saint-Romain-en-Gal dedicated to the Gallo-Roman civilization.

If you get the opportunity to travel to the Haute-Savoie area, you will enjoy a break in Annecy, a city with an Old-Quarter, special history, charming canals, and lake.
During your stay in the Clermont-Ferrand area, you will appreciate the Vulcania park to decode all the mysteries around volcanoes. Moreover, you will be fortunate to visit the top of the Puy de Dôme and admire its wonderful panoramic view. Still in Clermont-Ferrand, there is also the cathedral Notre-Dame of the Assumption built in lava stones, the UNESCO listed Basilica Notre-Dame-du-Port. Then, you will walk through the historical centre of Clermont, but also through the Montferrand one.

During your stay in the Region, you will bear witness to the great arts and crafts and local industry related to diverse fields. Indeed, you will be told the secrets of art cutlery, lace, Michelin tyre all located in Clermond-Ferrand. The city of Lyon also witnessed the birth of cinema thanks to the Lumière brothers. That’s why, as you may perceive, the Region presents such a rich cultural heritage.
